February's MMS Visual/Performing Arts Student of the Month
Deacon Henson
Deacon continues to be an exceptional student in chorus. He always maintains a positive attitude in class and works diligently to know and perform his part with precision. He represented Mabry at Spartanburg Sings All-County Honors Chorus where he auditioned against students from 10 other middle schools and was selected as part of a trio in one of the songs. Earlier in the year, Deacon was also selected as a soloist during the South Carolina American Choral Directors Association Upstate Tenor/Bass Choral Clinics. Deacon has dedicated time during lunch, before school, after school, and at home to learning his music and will seek out extra help whenever needed. Additionally, as a first-year band student this year, Deacon auditioned and made the alternate band for Region six!
