🌿🌸 As part of National Beta’s April Service Theme of Beautification, our Landrum Middle School Beta Club members rolled up their sleeves and got to work! 🌸🌿 Students stayed after school to plant roses, perennials, and annuals at the entrance of our school, helping create a welcoming and beautiful space for everyone who visits. 🐉 Keeping an Eye on Middle-earth! Mr. Millwood’s 7th-grade Honors class just leveled up their literary game. To wrap up their study of *The Hobbit*, students went beyond the page to fuse Art and ELA in a truly 🔥 project.

The challenge?
* **Create:** Design a hyper-realistic dragon’s eye inspired by the legendary Smaug.
* **Analyze:** Write a deep-dive analysis on the symbolism of Smaug’s greed versus the heroic evolution of Bilbo Baggins.

🐾 Carving Out Life Lessons - Mr. Millwood’s classes just reached the summit of their journey with Touching Spirit Bear! 📖✨ To wrap up their study of the novel, students didn’t just write—they created. Each student designed a partial totem pole, selecting an animal that mirrors their own life experiences or personal growth. In a story that deeply explores Native American culture, healing, and accountability, these projects helped bring the book's core themes to life. It’s more than just an art project; it’s a reflection on:

Identity: Finding strength in the traits of the natural world.
Healing: Understanding our past to build a better future.
Connection: Respecting the traditions and cultures that shape our stories.

Help Fuel Our Students for Success! State testing is just around the corner, and we want to make sure our students are focused, energized, and ready to do their best! We are asking for help from our amazing Landrum Middle School families to donate individually wrapped snacks for testing days. Some great options include: granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, small bags of chips or pretzels, and bottled water. Your generosity goes a long way in helping our students stay motivated and perform at their best during testing. 💻🛠️ Real-World Skills in Action! 🛠️💻 Mr. Crowe’s students took on the roles of both Designers and Production Staff this week as they worked through the final stages of their website projects. This morning, production teams met with design teams to address communication challenges, review progress, and approve final changes before moving into full production. Just like in the real world, students experienced how clear communication and strong design choices directly impact success. There were real stakes involved—production delays caused by miscommunication or design issues resulted in “lost revenue,” and missing signatures or approvals slowed down the “billing department.” These hands-on consequences helped students better understand the importance of accountability and teamwork. Final websites will be presented to their “clients” on Monday, and we can’t wait to see the finished products!
