Rain couldn't stop our students! Even though the weather moved things indoors on Wednesday morning, nearly 130 LMS students gathered for See You at the Pole Day. Students lifted up prayers for our school community, local and national leaders, and people around the globe who do not have the freedom to pray openly. Eighth-grader Rylie Bruner led a thoughtful devotion on Matthew 11:28. Jase and Neysah have been hard at work building chicken coops to prepare for a big batch of chicks that our Ag-Ed classes will hatch and raise this year! Mr. Williams plans to introduce students to a variety of chicken breeds as they gain hands-on experience caring for and raising their new feathered friends. Honoring History and Remembrance at LMS ~ This morning, Landrum Middle School's 7th graders participated in a powerful 9/11 panel discussion. Connected to their current novel study of Alan Gratz’s Ground Zero, the event gave students a deeper understanding of the history, sacrifice, and lasting impact of September 11, 2001. In honor of the 25th anniversary, this year’s guest panel was the largest to date, featuring a diverse group of community members and special guests:

DJ Mattox – Former MLB pitcher (playing for the Brooklyn Cyclones on 9/11)
Stacy Rosenbaum – Former flight attendant
Captain Garry Lawson – Commercial airplane pilot

Michael Reid – Retired Army Staff Sergeant
Paula Petty Dotson – Owner/operator of Petty Funeral Home
Students observed quiet moments of silence for each plane crash and wrapped up the morning with a thoughtful Q&A session. Pop! Goes the Heat Transfer! Mrs. Farmer's classes learned about the three types of heat transfer by popping popcorn three different ways. They used an air popper for convection, a microwave for radiation, and a hot plate for conduction. #LiveLearnLandrum #RespectExcellenceDetermination
