🐣🌾 Exciting Things Are Hatching in Ag-Ed! 🌾🐣 Mr. Williams’ Ag-Ed students are getting a hands-on look at the science of life as they set up their classroom egg incubator this week! Students carefully prepared the incubator and placed the eggs inside, where they will be monitored over the next several weeks. If all goes well, the class is expecting to see baby chicks hatch in about three weeks! This project gives students the opportunity to learn about animal science, responsibility, and the incubation process while watching it unfold right in their classroom. We can’t wait to see the chicks arrive! Stay tuned for updates as we count down to hatch day! 🐥 #lmsagricultureeducation #HandsOnLearning #LiveLearnLandrum #RespectExcellenceDetermination

🥚🚗 Egg-citing Engineering in 8th Grade Science! 🚗🥚
Mrs. Quinn’s 8th-grade science classes took on a fun and challenging hands-on project this week — the annual Egg Car Crash Test! Students were tasked with designing and building a car that could roll down a ramp, crash into a brick wall, and keep the egg inside from breaking. Through this project, students put their knowledge of engineering, force, motion, and impact design to the test while thinking creatively about how to protect their fragile passenger. From creative designs to clever cushioning systems, our students showed impressive problem-solving and teamwork as they tested their cars. Some eggs cracked under pressure… but many survived the crash! Great job to Mrs. Quinn and her students for bringing science to life with this egg-cellent engineering challenge! 👏🥚

Mrs. Farmer's science classes did a little core sampling to see how geologists learn about the layers deep in the earth. They made predictions based on their samples and then created a cross-section to see how accurate the predictions were. There were a few surprises. 🔬🧪📋 #LiveLearnLandrum

Today, select members of Landrum Middle School’s FFA are headed to the South Carolina State House in celebration of National FFA Day! 🌾🚜 As part of National FFA Week, our students will have the opportunity to meet with local and state legislators to thank them for their continued support of Agricultural Education and FFA programs across South Carolina. The morning will include a special ceremony on the State House steps featuring the presentation of the FFA Week Proclamation and Joint Resolution to the State FFA Officers, along with remarks from distinguished guest speakers. In past years, speakers have included the Superintendent of Education, the Commissioner of Agriculture, and other state leaders.
We are so proud of our Cardinals representing Landrum Middle School and advocating for agriculture education at the state level. Good luck today, and thank you for being outstanding ambassadors for our school and community! #NationalFFAWeek #LandrumFFA #SCFFA #lmsagricultureeducation 💛💙

🏹 MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR! 🎲
Mr. Millwood’s 7th-Grade ELA Honors students just turned the classroom into the Arena! Last week, creativity was on full display as students designed original board games from scratch based on Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games.
This wasn’t just "fun and games"—it was a masterclass in design and strategy:
Total Customization: Every group built their own rules, dice, and playing cards.
The "Playtest" Gauntlet: Groups had to run rigorous trials with outside players to ensure their mechanics were viable.
The Grand Finale: Friday was "Game Day!" Students competed in each other's creations and showcased their hard work.
We were thrilled to host some special guests who joined the games and cheered on our tributes:
Mrs. Christina Graves, Mrs. Erika Center, Mrs. Amy Driggers, Mrs. Kristina Kyle, and Ms. Emily Brooks
Watching these students go above and beyond was the ultimate victory. Way to go, Cardinals! 👏🔥

Have you ever tasted geology? Mrs. Farmer's 6th-grade students used graham crackers as continental crust, fruit roll-ups as oceanic crust, and icing as the “mantle” to model tectonic boundaries — sliding, colliding, and pulling apart to see how earthquakes, mountains, and rifts form. Hands-on, memorable, and yes, delicious! #LiveLearnLandrum

Chick-fil-A biscuit fundraiser this Friday in our morning car line. $5 each. #LiveLearnLandrum

Landrum Middle School proudly celebrated Black History Month with a powerful and inspiring assembly for our students and staff. We were honored to welcome Mrs. Karen McDowell, who delivered a captivating portrayal of Elizabeth Freeman — the first enslaved woman to successfully sue for her freedom in Massachusetts. Through her moving performance, students gained a deeper understanding of Freeman’s courage, resilience, and lasting impact on American history. The program also included poetry read by students and the announcement of our Black History Month Essay Contest winners. Congratulations to our runner-up, 6th-grader Nola Belue, and to our winner, 7th-grader Leighanna Wofford! We are so proud of the thoughtful reflections and hard work demonstrated by all who participated. Thank you to Mr. Millwood and everyone who helped make this assembly a meaningful and memorable experience for our Cardinals! ❤️🖤 #BlackHistoryMonth #LiveLearnLandrum #RespectExcellenceDetermination
